The aim of the conference is to connect actors from the cultural sector, cultural administrations and cultural policy and to share knowledge and experiences on various topics related to Brexit. The event also promotes exchange with partners from the UK and is intended to open up opportunities and perspectives for future cooperation at municipal, state and federal level. Among the topics to be discussed are funding opportunities and town twinning, as well as festivals and artist residencies. Current challenges, for example in the areas of visas or transport and customs, will also be discussed.

Since 2013, the Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste (IGBK), the Internationale Theaterzentrum Deutschland (ITI) and the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland have been jointly operating the information portal and free advisory service for internationally active artists and creative professionals www.touring-artists.info. Since 2022, this has also included the Brexit Infopoint, with tailored information and advice on the topic of mobility and creative work between Germany and the UK. Through our work with touring artists and the Brexit Infopoint, we have an extensive network with public and private institutions in the cultural sector in the UK.

The symposium will take place in English on 20 September 2023 at Kampnagel. On 21 September, keynotes will be held in German and English as part of the Reeperbahn Festival at the Pauli Spirit location.

Participation is free of charge on both days. For 20 September, we ask for prior registration. In terms of networking, we welcome physical participation, but digital participation is also possible on this day. The event on 21 September can be attended without registration and also without a Reeperbahn Festival ticket.
